Our condolences to the family of ED SCHACHLIN who passed away August 18. Ed had spent the last two years in a nursing home, developing Alzheimers
and eventually becoming bedridden. Ed served in the Navy, was sent to Australia and as soon as he could, he returned and spent the rest of his life there.
In 2005 Ed and his son, Grant, visited Little Rock so he could bury his 100 year old Mother. I was friends with Ed from Lee School on. We were both in the
band. His son, Grant, has stayed in touch all these years. Now as he prepares to bury his father, he would love to hear from anyone who was friends with
Ed and would share some memories of him growing up. You can reach Grant via e-mail at grants@fastmail.com.au. Grant lives in Sydney, Australia.
Phone: +61 417 040 068.
Henry "Ed" Schalchlin
26/04/1938 - 18/08/2025
Henry Edward (Ed) Schalchlin
Aged 87 years
Late of Toukley, formerly of Daley’s Point, NSW.
Passed away in peace.
Beloved husband of Loretta and much loved father of Tanya, Grant and Nicole.
A great friend to those who knew him.
An energetic and adventurous soul.
Frank Plegge and I back in our LRCHS days , flying one of his father's Little Rock Aircraft Sales stock or my older brother's Luscombe out at Adams Field, often landed on the
Rockefeller airstrip on Petit Jean Mountain. Frank and I have been closest of friends as far back as my memory goes so our families seemed almost one, so included in
recollections are when Frank's dad, Cliff, started his airplane sales business immediately after WWII had ended, soon after which Mr. Plegge gave me my first flight in his
first stock item, a Piper "Cub" purchased second hand. It was so memorable that I recall the sweater I was wearing; dark blue with woven design of reindeer lined across
front & back. Through high school on weekends we'd occasionally have as passengers LRCHS girls. Peculiarly, I don't remember Nancy having been taken up but she claims
vague memory of having had the privilege. If any of those "so privileged" read this I'd like to hear of your experience.
BTW: Frank seems to be managing tolerably in his "housebound" circumstance, getting by on hired aid. Give him a phone call, 870-523-2461 or 501-940-5070.
That's Mr. Plegge in the picture with the guys.
And,.....oh yeah, that's Mr. Plegge's office building actually within Adams Field fencing. It was one of three salvaged from WWII military bases, sold like countless others
to the public at "giveaway" prices. Hangers for civilian owned planes were about 40 yards directly across a grassed "taxi" corridor, three of which Mr. Plegge kept leased
for his plane sales business Little Rock Aircraft Sales. Before Saturday night dates Frank & I would often use one of the hanger bays for cleaning up our cars.
Connie, Herb Wright's fabulous wife who takes such great care of him reports that he is doing good. His last scan was clear.!!!!!! "Maybe we can make it to the Vapors
September 13 to hear the Swing Band!" Thank you for all you do Mary Lou.
Maydra Ray has a new email address. Just insert "ray" between "Maydra" and "bemis". She would love to hear from some of you. She is living in
paradise in Fayetteville. Lovely home "in the lovely woods" although she is what I consider right downtown. Be sure and call her if you are ever
in the neighborhood.
'56 Ladies: Mary Lou Hosack is on top of things!!!! She is already saving the date for our Christmas lunch. Monday, December 8. Mark your calendars!

Stories of the Sam Peck and Rockefeller -
My dad (Dewey Allen) was the manager of the mobile telephone group at Southwestern Bell when the house was being built on the mountain. At that time, there were no facilities for phone service on the mountain. After meeting with Rockefeller, my dad had a trailer built with mobile phone equipment attached that was pulled up to a window outside the house on the mountain. That way he had phone service but it was still mobile while on the trailer. It worked and Rockefeller sent dad a case of his private stock.

OOPS! Should have asked who made A's in math! Thanks, Jack!!!!
I hate to do this but I have to disagree with you.
11 - 11x11 + 11 does not equal 11.
11 - 121 + 11 = -111 + 11 =100
Multiplication comes first
