What I always remember about Fair Park is the little concession stands selling cotton candy and corn dogs. The corn dog thing had a large needle syringe filled with mustard that he shot into the corn dog. Yumm. Could eat one now.

You can’t talk about Fair Park without mentioning the ever present “Willie”. He loved the girls and hated the boys (for good reason).

ML - great news about the old carousel being refurbished and moved to the zoo. Will the monkeys be allowed to ride the colorful horses? We in the class of ’56 must be careful mounting and dismounting (and eating sandwiches while in the saddle in September); or did I misunderstand the reference to "Sandwiches in September”?
When I was a young buck, two things attracted me to the Fair Park swimming pool - you girls in bathing suits (albeit mostly the one-piecevariety) and the basketball games on the adjacent court - and cokes were only a nickel in the vending machine! Oh for the lazy, hazy, crazy days of teen summers spent at the Fair Park pool -Gary Frederick
Notte:
A group in LR conducts monthly historical events called "Sandwiching in History" or something like that. You bring a sandwich to eat while listening to a lecture and then touring one place or another that has historical relevance to the area. A great idea! I've never actually gone to one - since I'm sitting in front of a computer at a law firm - but Joe Crow has been often and raves about them.

Just had to add; my uncle Billy Kramer had a day camp for boys at Catholic High, Millwood, and Fair Park for yrs.!! I can remember the gym at CHS; and the boys climbed those ropes day after day. I was in the background from about age 2, because my Aunt Carolyn was water front director. I still have the pics! Those were the days!

I have another wonderful week with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am heading to Baltimore today to spend the final week with my granddaughters and two great-granddaughters, Cali is 8 and Kennedy is 9 months. I will be coming home possibly on a stretcher as I try to keep up with either one of these darling children, but, oh, how much fun it will be. I am sending this week's TBT early because once I hit Baltimore, all bets are off for getting to a computer.
