PLUS CLASS NEWS
Little Rock’s history lives on in MacArthur Park. The MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District was listed as a National Register Historic District on July 22, 1977 and was established as a local ordinance historic district in 1981 due to its status as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Little Rock, its association with prominent Little Rock figures and events, and its housing the largest collection of pre-Civil War buildings in the state. MacArthur Park reflects almost two centuries of Little Rock history.
The urban residential character of the neighborhood lives on thanks to the grid pattern design, tree-lined streets, and blocks of homes full of character.

1956 CLASS NEWS
Some time ago I posted Susan's passing, but have finally been able to find her obituary thanks to Snooky Peters.
SUSAN ELIZABETH BALLEW WILSON June 22, 1938 - January 4, 2025
aSusan Elizabeth Wilson, age 86, gracefully passed Saturday evening, January 4, 2025. She was born June 22, 1938, to Joseph and Donna Ballew in Little Rock,
Arkansas. Her childhood was spent with her mother and stepfather, Claude Branton. She was a dainty ballerina and grew into a lovely young lady. After her son was a toddler, she met her Air Force “Fly Boy” Charles Wilson and the three of them moved to Forest Park, Georgia, where they made many friends and many memories.
Susan worked in the airline & travel industries, which fueled her love of travel and amazing food. She and her husband spent 60 wonderful years together. They doted on their son, Mitchell Knight, and daughter-in-law Emily; their grandson and his wife, Aaron & Jessica Knight; their granddaughter and her husband, Greg & Lauren Berger; and their four great-grandchildren. She was a thoughtful hostess, appreciated beautifully set dining rooms and spectacularly decorated Christmas trees. She loved her baby boy, her great-grandchildren, oysters, escargot, and frosty dirty martinis.
She was a fierce friend and an even more amazing MawMaw! She will be truly missed by many! Susan will be laid to rest between her beloved husband and mother on Monday, January 13, 2025 in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Forest Park, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

PROBLEMS AT THE POST OFFICE - This is a warning to our Little Rock Classmates, but this may be a problem everywhere. One of our Classmates mailed a large check to her daughter recently. The check never left Little Rock. It was "washed", another name put on the check and cashed. When I took this Classmate to the Bank to report this, we were shocked to hear that they have several bank customers coming in daily with the same problem. SO BE CAREFUL. If you are mailing a check over a couple of hundred dollars, please do one of three things to make sure you are not scammed: 1. WIRE the $$; 2. Mail a CASHIER'S CHECK - NOT a Money Order; 3. Use OVERNIGHT MAIL.
